This Privacy Policy explains how York Street treats personal information connected with yorkstreethrconsulting.com and with home improvement enquiries. We designed the public site so that forms can be checked in your browser. This policy still describes the categories of information a home improvements business typically needs, how that information would be used if you ask us to proceed, and the choices you have about email.

Last updated: 12 September 2026. We will change this page when our practices or the tools on the site change. The new date will appear at the top. If a change is material, we will add a short note on this page describing what moved.

1. The organisation responsible

York Street is the organisation responsible for this website. Questions about privacy can be sent to info@yorkstreethrconsulting.com with the subject line “Privacy”. We do not publish a street address or telephone number on this site. Email and the contact form are the channels we provide for privacy requests.

2. What this policy covers

This policy covers information you type into contact, calculator, subscribe and unsubscribe forms; information you send by email; and technical data that a browser or hosting platform may create when you view pages. It also covers photographs and room notes you choose to attach to an enquiry about renovation, painting, tiling, paving, repairs or solar work. It does not cover websites we link to, including social networks opened by the share buttons in the footer.

3. Information you give us

Depending on the form, you may provide your name, email address, optional phone number, a message about your home, a project type, an approximate area, finish preferences, door and window counts, and a subscription interest. You may also describe access constraints, who lives in the home, and what you hope a room will feel like after the work. Please do not send payment card numbers, copies of identity documents, or medical details through website forms. Those are not required to start a home improvement conversation.

If you upload or email photographs, they may show family belongings, street views or neighbouring properties. Send only images you are comfortable sharing for the purpose of a quote. We use them to understand existing finishes, damage and layout. We do not treat enquiry photos as marketing images unless you later agree that a completed project may appear in our gallery.

4. Information created by using the site

When you open a page, your browser sends standard technical data such as IP address, browser type, language, referring page and the time of the request. Hosting logs may keep that data for security and performance. This static build does not set advertising cookies and does not embed third-party analytics. If a future version of the site adds optional analytics, this policy will name the tool and how to refuse it.

The cost calculator stores nothing on a server in this version. The figure you see is calculated locally in your browser. If you then submit the form, the fields you completed are treated as an enquiry.

5. Why we use information

We use enquiry details to understand the home improvement you want, to reply within one business day where possible, to prepare an estimate, and to plan a site visit if you ask for one. We use calculator inputs to understand scale and finish grade. We use subscription details to send occasional notes about renovation, repairs, outdoor work and energy upgrades. We use unsubscribe requests to stop those notes. We use email addresses to confirm we have the right person when you write again about the same project.

We do not sell lists of homeowners. We do not rent subscriber names to other renovation companies. We do not use enquiry photographs to train public image models. We do not make automated decisions that grant or refuse a service without human review. A person reads the brief before any proposal is written.

6. Legal bases we rely on

Where privacy law requires a legal basis, we rely on steps needed to answer a request you initiated, on our legitimate interest in running a careful home improvements practice, and on consent for optional newsletters. You can withdraw newsletter consent on the unsubscribe page. Withdrawing consent does not affect a live project conversation if you still want work to proceed. Contractual details for an accepted project will be held as long as needed to deliver the work, handle snagging and meet accounting or warranty records.

7. Sharing

Information is shared only as needed to deliver a service you asked for. That can include finish suppliers when we check lead times for a specified tile or timber, a specialist tradesperson working under our supervision, or a professional adviser if a structural or electrical question appears. We share the minimum needed for that task. We do not publish your name next to a project without asking. Share buttons in the footer open the social network you choose; those companies receive the page address you decide to share, under their own policies.

We may disclose information if required by law, to protect the safety of people on a site, or to defend a legal claim. If the practice is reorganised, project files would move with the business under the same confidentiality expectations.

8. Retention

Enquiry messages that do not become a project are kept only as long as needed to complete the conversation and to understand why a quote was not taken up, then removed from active mailboxes according to our internal schedule. Newsletter addresses are kept until you unsubscribe or the address fails permanently. Project files, including drawings, change notes and handover records, are kept for the warranty period and for any longer period required for accounting or product traceability. Photographs of completed work that you have approved for the gallery are kept while they remain on the site and for a reasonable archive after they are taken down.

Unsubscribe requests are kept long enough to show we honoured them and to prevent accidental re-adding. After that, the request record is reduced to the minimum needed for suppression.

9. Security

We take reasonable technical and organisational steps to protect information: limited access to mailboxes, care with printed drawings left on site, and a practice of not discussing one household’s layout in another household’s meeting. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure. Please use the contact form or email for ordinary project talk and avoid sending highly sensitive attachments unless we have agreed a safer method.

On site we may see alarm codes, spare keys or household routines. Those details are used only to carry out the work and are not stored on this website. Ask us to return keys at the end of each day if that is your preference.

10. Children

The website and our home improvement services are directed at adults who can commission work on a property. We do not knowingly collect information from children through these forms. If you believe a child has submitted a form, write to info@yorkstreethrconsulting.com and we will delete the message.

11. International viewing

The site can be viewed from many places. We do not state a country of establishment on these pages. If you write to us, your message will be read by the people handling York Street enquiries. If a future hosting location requires a specific transfer clause, we will add it here.

12. Your choices and requests

You can choose not to submit a form. You can use an email address reserved for suppliers. You can omit an optional phone number. You can unsubscribe from newsletters without affecting an active renovation. Subject to applicable law, you may ask what information we hold about an enquiry, ask for a correction, or ask us to delete information that is no longer needed. Send the request from the email address used in the original form so we can match the record. We may need to keep limited information where a warranty, invoice or legal duty still applies.

If you want a completed project removed from the public gallery, write to us with the project title as it appears on the Projects page. We will take down recognisable images within a reasonable time. Generic detail shots that do not identify the home may remain.

13. Cookies and local storage

This version of the site does not rely on advertising cookies. The browser may keep ordinary cache files so images load faster on a second visit. You can clear cache and stored files in your browser settings. Doing so does not cancel an email subscription; use the unsubscribe page for that.

14. Email content

Newsletter content is about home improvements: preparing rooms, comparing finishes, looking after new paving, and understanding when a repair is enough. We do not include unrelated product stalls. Each message will include a path back to this policy and to the unsubscribe page. Transactional messages about a live quote or programme are separate from the newsletter and will continue while the project needs them.

15. Photographs, neighbours and shared buildings

If your home shares a wall, roof or garden with others, please obtain any permission you need before sending images that show those areas in detail. We will not contact neighbours unless you ask us to or unless access for scaffolding or waste requires it, in which case we will discuss the approach with you first. In apartment or estate settings, building rules about working hours and waste may affect programme; those rules are part of project planning, not a request for extra personal data.

16. Changes and contact

We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect new forms, new services such as additional renovation trades, or clearer wording. The current version will always be available from the footer of every page. If you have a question or complaint about privacy, write to info@yorkstreethrconsulting.com or use the contact form. We will acknowledge the message and explain the next step.
